The first Traction store was established in 1963. Known as Traction Specialty Ltd. and located in Ville St-Laurent (Quebec), its original focus was on Air Foundation Parts & Driveline. Over the years, through different expansions and acquisitions, the Traction store network grew to become what it is today which is aimed at servicing many types of customers owning various types and sizes of heavy vehicles fleets, ranging from owner / operators to large national fleets. We offer a complete range of truck and trailer components to our customer base operating in multiple different industries such as general merchandise, construction, waste management, utilities / municipalities, bulk carriers, forestry, school bus, transit bus / coach and couriers.
Since its inception, Traction has been affiliated with UAP inc. and has benefited from its reputation and position as Canadian leader in the distribution, merchandising and remanufacturing of parts and accessories for cars and heavy vehicles. Originally created as member of the Industrial Division of UAP inc., Traction became part of the Heavy Vehicle Parts Division (HVPD) of UAP inc. that was established in 1994 by Robert Messier. In 1998, UAP became a wholly owned subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company (GPC).
Today, as the Canadian heavy duty aftermarket leader, Traction operates a coast to coast network of more than 80 stores (including 4 stores in Alaska). The Traction vision is to contribute to our customers’ success through superior service and value.
