The Betts pneumatic sliding valve is designed as an external self-closing stop valve without a shear section. It requires the cargo tank to provide suitable protection as specified in 49 CFR 178.345-8. The valve features an air-open, spring-close cylinder that requires 90 psi line pressure to fully open. PTFE encapsulated O-rings ensure a positive seal for pressure or vacuum service, while standard 316 stainless steel discs offer premium corrosion resistance. The adjustable packing nut with woven PTFE-infused packing allows easy stem adjustments. The air cylinder has a maximum working temperature of 250 °F (121 °C).
